Conover, Emily. “This Cloud-Zapping Laser Could Help Scientists Create a Quantum Internet.” Science News, 23 Oct. 2018, www.sciencenews.org/article/cloud-zapping-laser-could-help-scientists-create-quantum-internet?tgt=nr.

The article I chose to read is an interesting explanation of how we could, as a society, create a secure browsing interface in our internet. Emily Conover, the author of this article, theorizes that, with the help of quantum particles, we could create a stronger faster internet for all. It would be done by sending the quantum particles to satellites and back, completely eliminating the negative aspects whether would have on our internet speeds. This theory would prove very beneficial to all if it could be achieved efficiently and effectively. It would also be  staple in the developments of quantum technologies.

Although the thought of quantum internet is baffling, but, it would have many positive effects of society. For example, If we take a look at China, who has already sent up a quantum satellite, we now that it is relatively cost efficient and could be the next step for high speed internet everywhere. However, this would have to happen with every country on the world in order to create the highest, most reliable internet. Which is the case of some countries would not be possible because of their financial situations.

Emily Conover did a good job writing this article, but it could’ve been improved to be far better. For example, she did a great job of creating a steady background from which everyone could about quantum internet. However, she didn't go into depth on the costs of this global project, nor did she explain the logistics of launching this satellite into space. After reading this article i'm still left with lots of questions and Im sure a lot of readers are too.

Article chris read: Conover, Emily. “This Cloud-Zapping Laser Could Help Scientists Create a Quantum Internet.” Science News, 23 Oct. 2018,

I just read chris ahernes review on “This Cloud-Zapping Laser Could Help Scientists Create a Quantum Internet” by Emily Conover. Chris along with his effective writing strategies did many things well while writing this. First of all he explained and expanded on his information very well. First he says “Emily Conover, the author of this article, theorizes that, with the help of quantum particles, we could create a stronger faster internet for all. It would be done by sending the quantum particles to satellites and back, completely eliminating the negative aspects whether would have on our internet speeds”. This helped me understand what he's trying to say, he is expanding on the fact that the author wants a stronger and faster internet for all. Another thing chris did very well was looking at all of the positive and negative sides of this article. He adds many positive aspect of technology throughout the review then comes with negative aspects which then get rebutted overall with his main positive argument. The last thing Chris did very well on was bringing outside sources and outside information. For example he says “If we take a look at China, who has already sent up a quantum satellite, we now that it is relatively cost efficient and could be the next step for high speed internet everywhere”. He is bringing up outside sources from other areas of the world which is very good for this review.

There were also some things that chris could improve on. First of all he could have gone more in depth with his information. For example when he said ”This theory would prove very beneficial to all if it could be achieved efficiently and effectively. It would also be staple in the developments of quantum technologies”. He could have expanded on these quantum technologies and maybe include some examples of quantum technologies and what they are as a whole. Another thing chris could have improved on was using the word “for example” a little less. I found that word being very repetitive throughout this article and maybe next time u could use more transition words. Maybe use “as like or such as”
Even Though there were some flaws in this review i was blown away by the facts shown. The fact that society doesn't have a very secure internet browser scares me. It leads me to believe that anyone or anything can go on the internet and cause bad things to happen. This is what it causing bullying and many other forms of online abuse. So, this topic really blew me away and got me thinking of how to create a safer internet browser and really how “safe” the internet is.
